Curious Jesus Sermon Series
Oct 2 @ 9:30 am – Oct 30 @ 12:00 pm
You’re invited to take part in October’s sermon series, “Curious Jesus.”  In the Gospels, people ask Jesus a lot of questions.  But did you know that Jesus asks more?  Hundreds, by best count!  Is he asking them because he doesn’t know the answers?  No, he asks questions not for his sake, but for ours.  He uses questions as a teaching tool, a way of caring, and a disarming strategy to help people think more intentionally about what’s going inside of them.  Jesus asks questions of people because he loves people.

Together, we’ll gather to explore the Gospels and listen carefully to five of Jesus’ questions.  As we apply them to our lives, we might come to know ourselves better, and in turn re-engage our own curiosity and openness to others, as we learn how to ask good questions, too.

Leadership Nominations
Oct 3 @ 11:00 am – Oct 10 @ 11:59 pm

Platte Woods UMC is governed by a Leadership Council of 10 members. This group is entrusted with stewarding the mission of the church, championing the big picture vision of our congregation and setting policies for the church.

Many different gifts are needed on the Leadership Council, and a diversity of experience and culture represented make PWUMC a stronger church. The kind of leaders we are looking for are people of faith who are committed to Platte Woods Church by Gathering for worship, Growing in learning and prayer, Giving of time and resources, and Going in service to the world.

If you or someone you know has spiritual gifts of leadership to share, please feel free to nominate them or yourself. Our Nominations committee along with our pastors will follow up with nominees as we approach the new calendar year with new leaders coming on board.

Additionally, the Nominations Committee is a group of people with the particular gifts of recognizing and developing gifts in other people. The Nominations Committee has the unique task of cultivating leaders within our own congregation. This is also an area of leadership for which you may self-nominate or nominate others. Please note, all nominations are due by October 10th.
