The Changeover Zone Workshop
Feb 22 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join us for this special workshop presented by Jim Ozier, author of “The Changeover Zone.” We’ll look at the role each of us play in moving PWUMC forward during this “changeover” period, where we have the opportunity to continue our community impact while celebrating Pastor Steve & Cindy’s ministry and preparing for a new senior pastor. We’ll discuss how to be invitational and remain focused on growth through a successful transition.

Preparation has already begun with our church leadership and staff, but we know that the congregation plays a critical role in the life of our church at this time. We invite each of you to participate in this process!

Since well before 2016 when we had the first worship service in our new Worship Center, PWUMC been working on growing the kingdom of God in the Northland of Kansas City.  We have aligned our mission of “Leading people to follow Jesus” and our vision of being the place that brings unchurched young families in the Northland into relationship with Christ. Our church is known in the community for caring for others and each other. When we talk about what we do here, we often reference “from cradle to grave.” From our Children’s Ministry, Parents’ Day Out and Sunbeams Preschool to our Senior Adult Ministry, we provide a place for people in every phase of life to learn about the grace of Jesus Christ.

Sometimes pastor transitions bring about unrest and provoke a sense of uncertainty. We are blessed to be a part of a congregation that participates in the life of the church and we know that our success is not reliant on any one person. The senior pastor owns a critical role in our church, but we all play a critical role in God’s kingdom.

Journey: A Ministry for Couples
Feb 28 @ 6:05 pm – 9:00 pm

Journey offers monthly programs to strengthen your relationship at any stage and any age! On the fourth Friday of the month, join us for a time of community and learning, followed by the opportunity for a date night for you and your significant other.

Have elementary-age and younger kids in the house? We provide professional childcare for your evening so you can enjoy your time together without worry. Childcare is $10 per family when registered 10 days before the event. Childcare reservations made after that deadline will be charged a $20 late fee.

Have you ever wondered why relying on other people never quite satisfies your soul? Why our words can sometimes negatively impact the people around us instead of helping build them up? No matter your age or stage in life, it’s not too late to learn your temperament and how to better understand your partner! God will always be the ONLY one who can satisfy all of our needs, but learning your temperament will help guide you and your partner!

Our 2019-20 study is based on the book, I Said This, You Heard That: How Your Wiring Colors Your Communication by Kathleen Edelman. No mandatory homework or reading! Even if you haven’t been yet this year, no worries, we want to go on this Journey with you!

Our schedule each month looks something like this:

6:05-6:30
Community Time
Enjoy a light snack while getting to know other couples. Childcare dropoff is available during this time.
6:30-7:00
Program
Each month, we’ll have a different program of information designed to give you the knowledge and nudge to work on your relationship. There is no mandatory homework or reading and each month’s individual topic allows for flexibility in attendance.

Our 2019-20 study is based on the book “I Said This, You Heard That: How Your Wiring Colors Your Communication” by Kathleen Edelman. If you’ve ever wondered why sometimes your significant other doesn’t seem to hear you, or you feel like you are talking to a wall, then this is the Journey for you!
7:00-9:00
Date Night
Whether you decide to have a quiet dinner alone, catch up on some shopping or play mini golf, we hope you’ll take some of what you learned during the program and discuss it with your partner during your date. If your kids are in childcare, just be back by 9:00 for pickup!
