What worship styles do you offer?

PWUMC offers three different worship service every week, and we hope you’ll find one that helps you in your journey! Each service has the same sermon, but with different supporting elements and music.

Finding the Right Service For You

Prefer to worship online? We have two options for you, both available on Facebook Live and our livestream:

  • Sundays at 9 a.m. — contemporary music (K-Love style) and a modern feel
  • Sundays at 11 a.m. — traditional music (hymns and four-part harmonies) and a more formal feel

Ready for in-person worship? We offer identical services at 9 and 11 a.m. each week. These services offer a mix of styles, and you’re sure to experience something new every week! Due to the pandemic, these services are limited to 300 people per week. We hope to welcome you to PWUMC soon!

What should I expect when I come to in-person services?

When you visit Platte Woods UMC, we want you to experience genuine hospitality. When you enter our building there will be someone waiting to greet you. As you enter into our worship center, you will be greeted by one of our hospitality team, who will help you find a seating arrangement that works for your family.

Our worship center is filled with seating arrangements for groups of varying sizes, with a minimum of 6 feet between groupings. Masks are required at all time while in the building to keep you and others as safe as possible.

Services are typically less than hour long, filled with music, prayer and a time for learning God’s Word.

What should I wear?

At Platte Woods United Methodist Church we have a very casual environment and this is reflected in our worship services. There is no official or unofficial dress code — feel free to come as you are. If you are comfortable wearing a suit and tie, you will not stand out in the crowd, but if you worship the Lord best in jeans, you will not be alone. What is important in worship is experiencing God’s presence, not the clothes you wear.

What are our beliefs?

Our Vision Statement:

Leading people to follow Jesus.

Our Purpose:

To build an outwardly focused Christian community of full participants in the life of grace.

We Value:

  • Christ-centeredness
  • Spirit empowered
  • Biblically based
  • Outwardly focused
  • Fruitful
  • Accountable

Our Practices:

  • Radical Hospitality
  • Intentional Faith Development
  • Risk-Taking Mission and Service
  • Passionate Worship
  • Extravagant Generosity

As members of the United Methodist Church, we, along with Christians of other communions, confess belief in the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This confession embraces the Biblical witness to God’s activity in creation, encompasses God’s gracious self-involvement in the dramas of history, and anticipates the consummation of God’s reign. For more information about the beliefs and history of the United Methodist Church, visit the national UMC site.
