Adopt a Family

Platte Woods Church has the opportunity to provide hope and dignity to local families during the Christmas season by equipping them to create their own Christmas experience. You can participate by giving financially, signing up to Adopt a Family, or signing up to provide a themed gift basket.

Famlies that are invited to participate in our Christmas Adopt a Family program provide us with a wish list of personalized needs and wants for each family member.  These lists will be distributed to our “Adopters” mid-November.  We do this so that each gift is individualized for every child, so they feel valued and loved.

We distribute the gifts directly to the parents and guardians so that they have the opportunity to wrap and prepare the gifts themselves and experience the gift of giving to their families.

Each family receives everything they need to wrap their gifts and prepare a Christmas meal so they can create their own Christmas celebration.

If you or your small group would like to adopt one of these families, please click here to sign up. Families will be paired up before Thanksgiving.

Christmas Day Deliveries: Shepherd's Run

PWUMC traditionally serves meals to those in our area who work on Christmas Day. Due to Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021, we began delivering Anita’s Famous Cinnamon Rolls to our community members on Christmas Day as a safe and delicious alternative that also supports local business.   This Christmas Day tradition will continue in 2022 and is a great opportunity for all ages to serve our community.  SIGN UP to take part in this Christmas service opportunity!

December Angel Tree

Each year, PWUMC has an Angel Tree during the first weeks of December. The Angel Tree contains Christmas wishes for kids whose families are served by Tri-County Mental Health Services and Hillcrest Transitional Housing. Our Angel Tree wishes from local families traditionally goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving.  This year the Angel Tree tags will be set up on November 27th at the far east wall of the Gathering Space.

*Donations of wrapping paper, sweater boxes, gift bags and scotch tape are also needed and appreciated.

Easter and Thanksgiving Food Boxes

In the fall and spring, PWUMC hosts a food drive and donates food boxes to local families.  On average, we serve more than 100 families during these events.
