Many of you have used the Upper Room as a source for daily devotions for years, in addition to joining us in our PWUMC devotions each day. This Lent, we invite you to subscribe to their special Upper Room Lenten Calendar, which features spiritual practices for the whole family. This can be a meaningful resource to lead you and those you love through Lent and Easter week.
Lent is the season in the church designed to prepare or reorient lives to the reality of the resurrection of Jesus. During this season, people decide things to give up that may have become vices in their lives. People may also decide to take on something that takes them into a deeper relationship with God. This month for devotions, you will be given, through the Upper Room Lenten Calendar, daily ideas that will help you to fully experience this season. You may decide to do all of these, some of them, or one especially helpful one multiple times. Remember that this season represents Jesus’ time in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13). It is not just a season to take on everything. Lent is a season for you to choose to fix your eyes on God in new ways.
Whether you go to the Upper Room website each day or choose to have the devotions emailed to you from their site, we trust that they will bless you and your family throughout the coming weeks.
During the rest of the year, we offer the PWUMC daily devotional series. Each Saturday, we’ll post devotionals for the coming week. If you’d like to receive a daily devotional email each morning, please sign up at the bottom of this page.
