Be a Helper

PWUMC wants to be of help in any way we can during these uncertain times. A number of you have reached out to see how you can be the hands and feet of Christ to our community through PWUMC. If you’d like to help, please read on to learn about ways PWUMC is serving in the Northland.

Each month, we have a special page full of ways you can serve at a time that fits your schedule! These projects include:

  • Volunteering with our partner organizations such as; Hillcrest, Lazarus Table, Cross-Lines, or Iglesia de Camino.
  • “Love, Your Neighbor” Door Hangers
  • Sewing Face Masks
  • Cutting Fabric for Face Masks

Pine Ridge American Indian Reservation

PWUMC has a longstanding relationship with the people of the Pine Ridge American Indian Reservation in South Dakota. As one of the most impoverished areas in the U.S., the people there struggle in ordinary times, but even more so today. We are supporting them through donations of needed items, such as food and PPE. You can help by donating funds to our COVID-19 Relief Fund, which will support this and other pandemic-related efforts. To learn more and watch a video about our current work in South Dakota, visit the Pine Ridge section of our site. To give, go to our Ways to Give page and note COVID-19 on the memo of your online gift or check.

Call Connectors
People who are willing to call other people in the congregation to check up on them, ask if they have any needs (food, water, medicine, labor) and ask for prayer requests. These people will never have to leave their homes to fulfill this service. Sending cards could also be a great way to connect.

Service Connectors
This will consist of people who are able to get out and perform tasks for those who are vulnerable. This will include being in public to pick up food, grocery items, medication or other items, or to help in other ways as needed with individuals.

Mission Connectors
Over the next few weeks we will be assisting organizations all over the city. Our church may become a hub for organizations like Feed Northland Kids. There will be specific times of the day we will need people in the church building to open doors for dropoff and pickup of supplies. We will also continue partnering with CarePortal to keep up with the needs of others. Members of this team will be notified as opportunities become available.

Prayer Team
We’ve set up a dedicated prayer request form on our website. Join others in praying from home for these requests.

FNK Community Food Kit Project

In March-June PWUMC served as a mobile distribution site for the Feed Northland Kids Community Food Kit project. Go to our dedicated page for more info about this important community resource!
