Platte Woods United Methodist Church

The Hannah Project

The continuing need for ordained elders and deacons to lead churches calls for each local church to be responsible for helping people hear the invitation to become ministers of the Christian faith.

PWUMC has agreed to participate in The Hannah Project, a Missouri United Methodist Conference-wide initiative. Some of the conditions of our participation are already being met. Following are the areas where we are looking for those who are being “called” to leadership.

·         Become a “Call Connector” – This person(s) would receive training at the conference level and would make resources available to the youth, confirmation classes and others considering the call to ministry.

·         Sponsor a Seminary Student – Sponsorship includes activities such as prayer, sending greeting cards for birthdays and holidays, “care packages” during finals, etc. Names are available from Jenny Gragg at the Center for Pastoral Excellence. If you are interested in sponsoring (through prayer or financially) a seminary student in Mozambique, please contact Carol Kreamer.

·         Sponsor an Exploration of Ministry Event/Student – Send or sponsor a student to an Exploration of ministry event (November 11-13, 2011). The cost of sponsorship includes the registration fee $150. To sponsor, please send a check to Missouri Conference Center for Pastoral Excellence -- Exploration, Att: Jenny Gragg, 3601 Amron Ct., Columbia, MO 65202. For more information, please contact Jenny Gragg.
