Healthy Church Initiative
PWUMC recently participated in an in-depth church consultation process in partnership with the UMC’s Healthy Church Initiative program. We are using discoveries made during this process to become an even more faithful and fruitful ministry in the name of Christ. More information can be found by reviewing the documents found below. Health Church Initiative FAQ From Pastor Steve
As a result of the Healthy Church Initiative Process, five teams have been formed to provide initial focus and recommendation on areas mentioned in the report. These include the following:
Worship Enhancement Team
Facilitator: Linda Shipman
Strengthening and improving the worship experience at PWUMC is a primary goal of this team. They have been charged with developing specific recommendations on how to make each and every service as excellent as it can be. These recommendations will be given to the worship planning team upon completion.
Older Adult Strategy Team
Facilitators: Margaret Sachs, Nancy Sitzmann
This team is working to strengthen our ministry with older adults. In addition to recognizing existing areas of strength, they will study the work of other churches who have cutting-edge, growing and effective Older Adult Ministries.
Children’s Ministry Strategy Team
Facilitators: Laurie Price, Callie Woodland
This team is working to strengthen our ministry with children. In addition to recognizing existing areas of strength, they will study the work of other churches who have cutting-edge, growing and effective Children’s Ministries.
Staff Audit Team
Facilitators: Scott McWilliams, Keith Milburn
The Staff Audit Team will evaluate each staff position and its relation to the PWUMC mission. They will assess key ministries, staff roles, staff position configurations and the number of needed staff positions.
Building Team
Facilitators: Jay Kimball, Michael Short
Members of the Building Team are working to ensure that PWUMC offers an inviting atmosphere. The team works to determine what changes need to be made to make PWUMC the most hospitable, welcoming place it can be. The team will visit other churches in order to gain ideas.
Ministry Team
Facilitator: Mary Hoy
The Ministry Team is evaluating how PWUMC can more fully realize its vision of “building an outwardly focused Christian community of full participants in the life of grace.” This includes review of ministry areas, strategies and implementation of those strategies.
