Platte Woods United Methodist Church

General Stewardship Information

From Stewardship to Extravagant Generosity

Stewardship - to serve as one who entrusted with the management of another's property, finances, or other affairs.

Christian Stewardship - to serve as a follower of Christ who manages all gifts, talents and assets placed into their temporary care by God.

Christian Financial Stewardship - to serve as a follower of Christ who manages the money placed into their temporary care by God.

The Bible is filled with examples of grateful response to God's generous gifts.  The Bible also teaches about responsibility to share with others and warns against selfishness and misuse of God's economic resources.

John Wesley and the Methodist Approach to Stewardship
John Wesley urged constituents to "Earn all you can and save all you can, so that you can give all you can."  Throughout his life he lived modestly and gave sacrificially.  Wesley always included weekly offerings in those early "Methodist" classes as an act of worship and thanksgiving to God.

At Platte Woods Church, we are becoming committed follower of Jesus Christ and reaching beyond ourselves to share the life-changing experience of Jesus Christ.  And, as we join hands with United Methodist around the world, we are the hands and feet of Christ to those who are starving physically, emotionally and spiritually.
