Platte Woods United Methodist Church

I'm New to PWUMC

Platte Woods United Methodist Church is committed to helping individuals and families develop and grow in relationship with our Lord, and has been a powerful presence in the Northland since we first opened our doors in 1958.

At Platte Woods UMC, worship is primary as a way to encounter the living Lord. We offer five different worship services where close to 1,000 people join each week to praise the Lord through song and prayer and be inspired through the word of God. We welcome you to come and try one or all of our worship service opportunities.

Platte Woods Church offers many programs geared to people of all ages. Please feel free to browse around our site to find the activities that match your interests.

What to expect when you come
When you visit Platte Woods UMC, we want you to experience genuine hospitality. When you enter our building there will be someone waiting to greet you. As you enter into our worship center, you will be greeted by one of our ushers, who will help you find anything that you might need. Childcare is available during all of our worship services and the ushers will be more than happy to help you find those rooms.

We have a very casual environment and this is reflected in our worship services. There is no official or unofficial dress code -- feel free to come as you are. If you are comfortable wearing a suit and tie, you will not stand out in the crowd, but if you worship the Lord best in blue jeans, you will not be alone. What is important in worship is experiencing God's presence, not the clothes you wear.

Our services are typically an hour long, filled with singing, prayer and a time for learning God's Word. During the worship service, we will take up an offering. As our guest for worship, you are not expected or required to make an offering. What we do request is that you drop in the offering plate the registration card ("Connect Card") to tell us a little about yourself. Every Sunday between our worship services we gather for coffee and donuts in our dining hall. Please join us for this time of fellowship -- our ushers can direct you to the dining hall.

Opportunities for fellowship and further study follow each service. We have many different Sunday morning learning opportunities available.

Who we are
Our mission statement is:

To build an outwardly focused Christian community of full participants in the life of grace.

As members of the United Methodist Church, we, along with Christians of other communions, confess belief in the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This confession embraces the Biblical witness to God’s activity in creation, encompasses God’s gracious self-involvement in the dramas of history, and anticipates the consummation of God’s reign.

For more information about the beliefs and history of the United Methodist Church, visit the national UMC site.

If you have questions, please call the church office at 816-741-2972 during office hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.) or send an e-mail to Pastor Ginger Pudenz. For driving directions to the church, see the map.
